What is Geogrid?
Geogrid is a geosynthetic material made from polymers like polypropylene, polyester, or fiberglass, designed to reinforce soil and other materials in civil engineering applications. It has a grid-like structure that provides high tensile strength and stiffness to improve the load-carrying capacity of the soil. There are uniaxial (strength in one direction), biaxial (strength in two directions), and triaxial (strength in three directions) types of geogrids, each suited to different engineering needs.
What are the benefits to use Geogrid?
- Soil Stabilization: Geogrids enhance soil stability, preventing it from moving or deforming under load.
- Increased Load Capacity: They distribute loads more evenly over a wider area, increasing the load-bearing capacity of roads, pavements, and foundations.
- Cost-Effective: By optimizing the amount of structural fill material required and reducing maintenance costs, geogrids offer a cost-effective solution for many projects.
- Erosion Control: Geogrids help prevent soil erosion on slopes and embankments by providing structural support.
- Environmental Benefits: The use of geogrids can reduce the need for natural aggregate materials, contributing to conservation efforts and reducing the carbon footprint of construction projects.
- Versatile and Flexible: Geogrids can be used in a wide range of applications and soil types, offering flexibility in design and construction.
- Durable: Made from high-strength, weather-resistant polymers, geogrids are durable and designed to last, even in harsh environmental conditions.
Applications of Geogrids.
What are the Application of Geogrid?
- Road and Pavement Construction: Geogrids are used beneath roads and pavements to reinforce the subgrade, improving durability and performance.
- Retaining Walls and Slopes: They reinforce soil in retaining walls and slopes, increasing stability and preventing failure or collapse.
- Foundation Support: Geogrids provide additional support to building foundations, especially in areas with weak or unstable soil.
- Landfills and Waste Containment: In landfill construction, geogrids are used to reinforce the sides of landfills, enhancing stability and preventing erosion.
- Railway Construction: They reinforce the railway subgrade, distributing loads and improving track stability.
- Erosion Control: Geogrids are used in erosion control projects, stabilizing soil on embankments, riverbanks, and coastal areas.
- Airport Runways and Taxiways: They are used to reinforce the subgrade of runways and taxiways, ensuring a stable and durable surface capable of withstanding heavy loads.
PP Geogrid
PP Geogrid is an engineered polypropylene geogrid designed for soil stabilisation, separation & reinforcement applications. This is done through the process of extruding, polypropylene sheets then both stretching in both longitudinal and transverse directions.
PP biaxial geogrids perform best in granular, angular fills and are used under roads, railways, loading platforms for sub-base soil reinforcement & stabilisation.

- Pavement Stabilization
- Subgrade/Subsoil Separation
- Slope Stabilization
- Landfill and containment

PET Geogrid
PET Geogrid are manufactured by using high tenacity polyester fibres coated with bituminous polymer to protect it against acids and alkalis naturally occurring in soils.
PET Geogrid is the preferred geogrid for a range of soil reinforcement applications including slopes and earth retainment.
PP Composite Geogrid
PP Composite Geogrid is a geosynthetic made of PP (polypropylene) that combines the reinforcement of a geogrid with the additional functionalities of other materials, like nonwoven geotextiles, to make a multi-functional product suitable for a lot of civil engineering applications. The composite nature of this product usually involves a polypropylene geogrid bonded to one or both sides with a geotextile fabric, making it good for separation, filtration, reinforcement, and protection all in one product.

- Road and Pavement Construction
- Slope Protection
- Landfill and Waste Containment
- Foundation Reinforcement
- Water Management Structures

Stiched Composite Geogrid
Stitched Composite Geogrid is an advanced geosynthetic material that combines the high tensile strength of geogrids with the separation and filtration functionalities of geotextiles. This composite material is made by stitching a geogrid to one or more layers of geotextile. The geogrid, often made from polymers like fibergalss or polyester, provides structural reinforcement, while the geotextile layer prevents soil erosion, prevents aggregate intermixing, and allows for effective water filtration.
